Marakame Modesto Rivera comes from the lineage of the Wixarika people of Nayarit, Mexico. He is a Medicine Man, Traditional Artist and Musician who has traveled all over the planet following the teachings of both of his parents and grandparents, also Traditional Wixarika Healers.

Through his visionary and unique traditional form of art, Modesto shares the ancestral wisdom and creation stories of his people. Ancestral ceremonial and land centered wisdom is manifested in Modesto’s art and traditional way of life, offering us an opportunity to expand our consciousness and the way we look at the origins of visionary art.
